Notion: How to create a Business Scorecard
Managing your tasks and tracking your progress can sometimes be overwhelming. But what if you could easily calculate the percentage of tasks completed each week without using complicated formulas? I developed a method that leverages the native Notion database tools to do just that (WITHOUT using a formula).
Whilst some formulas are fantastic for calculating numbers or percentages of variables, they can often be complex to figure out how to set up/
This method will automatically calculate the number of tasks you've completed per week, helping you create a scorecard database to track your weekly progress and habit-building efforts.
Tutorial: How to create a Notion Scorecard
1. Enable Sub-items for your tasks database.
First, you need to turn on Sub-items in your task database. Go to the options settings and enable Sub-items. This allows you to create nested tasks within your main tasks.
2. Add a Status Property to the database.
3. Switch Status to Show as Checkbox, not labels. This visual change makes it easy to see at a glance which tasks are completed.
4. Adjust Column Size.
Drag the column to shrink the size. This makes your database more compact and visually appealing.
5. Create a Rollup Property called “Score”.
Relation: Sub-items
Property: Status
Calculate: Percent per group
This setup will automatically calculate the percentage of completed tasks each time you check off a checkbox.
Why Use This Method?
Using Notion's native database tools instead of complex formulas offers a seamless and intuitive way to track your progress. This method is perfect for creating a weekly scorecard to monitor your task completion and habit development. It's simple, efficient, and leverages the powerful capabilities of Notion.
